5906 slide on 4006 tsw?
is it possible? will it work? I'm curious because I have the opportunity to buy a 4006 tsw but I really want a 5906 tsw. and a 5906 tsw is about 11 to 1300 bucks if you can find them. its cheaper if possible to pop the 5906 top end on to a $340.00 4006 tsw. I always wanted a 5906 tsw but cannot afford one after dropping $2600 on my AR build and 4k to try to save my dog. any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!! GONZO out.......

In a word, no. Basically, because of design of the both the 9mm slide (frame/slide rails, breechface etc) and the different size specs, and the differences (specs) in the ammunition, 9mm vs .40S&W

While I agree that a 5906TSW is a seemingly rare item, I don't know where you came up with a figure of $1100-$1300 for one. That's way out of line.
And yep, you'd have to be a very skilled metal worker and artistic gun crafter to even attempt to build a 9mm pistol from mixed parts as you suggest. You can't even interchange magazines in the magwell of the pistols.
Be patient and eventually you'll find your 5906TSW.

Now, I'm not positive about this, but my theory is that these particular models (5906TSW and 4006TSW) share the exact same frame and slide, with the major difference being the barrel. The 5906TSW has a very thick-walled barrel compared to other 3rd Gen 9mm's, so my theory is that you can convert your 4006TSW to a 5906TSW simply by swapping in a 5906TSW barrel and recoil spring.
And, if this is true, there was somebody selling 5906TSW barrels on gunbroker recently, chances are they're still for sale.

The extractor certainly isn't going to work and neither will the magazines.

The barrel hoods are different sizes , .40 barrel won't fit in a 9mm tsw slide and the 9mm is to loose in the .40 slide. The slides with their barrels will inter change between frames and the 9mm tsw frame is cut for .40 mags. I've put my 5906tsw barrel and slide on my 4003tsw frame just to lighten the gun and shot many an afternoon with it.
I've noticed that the 5903tsw is a hard one to find.

I think he's contemplating putting a 5906(non-TSW)slide on a 4006TSW frame. No worky.

So much for my theory, but good to hear from someone who's actually tried it!

The TSW's as I understand it, have fitted slides and frames, serial numbered to each other. You can do some parts mix and match on the earlier guns, but not so much with the TSW.
