Exclamation Dry Firing a Striker fired VS Hammer fired gun

I was raised to NOT dry fire my guns.

To always use snap caps.

BUT NONE of my guns were striker fired auto's.

I've searched and I saw the answers about snap caps and I use them,

BUT does it HURT the gun in any way to dry fire a striker fired gun?

i.e. like a Springfield XDm or a S&W Sigma or Ruger LCP

Thanks

Don't know about those Pistols but it doesn't hurt a Glock..
A Sigma is a Glock Copy..
I'd read each manual & decide..
I like snap caps myself..
MERRY CHRISTMAS

For the S&W, no.
However, you might read the KelTec manual before trying to lump all striker guns into the same category.

For some reason, my 3rd gen S&W's do not function well with snap caps. I had a 3913 once that would lodge the snap cap into the barrel after repeated strikes, and my 5903 is currently sent in for an inspection because using snap caps in that makes the firing pin stick. The pin will not pop out again after pulling the trigger. These are AZoom snapcaps and they have only been used a few hundred times. They're supposed to be good for over 1000 trigger pulls.

I've never hurt a Glock dry firing it.

Based on what I've seen.......and read on this board, I would not be dry firing an M&P pistol. Don't know about the other brands you mention. Regards 18DAI.

No. In fact it breaks it in so it feels smoother and the trigger will lighten some. Be smart and use snap caps if you plan to dry fire it a million times.

I know nothing of the other models that you mention except the Sigma.
Dry firing should not hurt it.
Do I do it? Occasionally, but I don't do it repeatedly.
Anything mechanical can break, but I have the lifetime warranty to back up any problems with my Sigma.
