On the 10th of Dec, I sent the slide of my 3913 to Trijicon to get the night sights renewed, that is, install new lamps in the factory night sight now gone dark.
A few days later I got a call from one of their techs. I had assumed that the used 3913 that I had bought was a police trade-in. That might or might not have been the case, as it develops.
The tech said that the front sight was not Smith factory nor a trijicon product. He said it was his opinion that the front sight was a kimber/mep and could not have the lamp replaced. I gave him credit card info and told him to replace the front sight with a trijicon.
Yesterday, I got the slide back. Inside the packing was the kimber/mepro front sight taken off. I installed the slide on the gun and stepped into a dark room. The new night sights were so bright that I was shocked when I first viewed them.
Great job Trijicon.
By the way, I have a pair of Glock 19s that had new kimber/meps installed on them in 2003. They are almost gone now. The cost was 80% of what new Trijicons would have cost. Considering they only had 50% of the life of Trijicons, they cost a lot more in the long run. You always get what you pay for.
