Can someone give me some info on a 4586, please. I saw one for sale on a local website and it looks nice from the pic. It says it's stainless but don't know if he means the slide or the whole gun. Thanks in advance for your replies.
Believe the 4586 does not have a decocker, all stainless steel construction weighs about 39 ozs, has 4 1/4" barrel. Uses a standard 8 round capacity magazine, and typically come with Novak 3 dot sights.
The M4586 is, to me anyway, the best of the .45 Third Gen models. As noted above, a "Commander" length barrel, DAO action and all stainless construction. All the Third Gen .45's are fantastic guns, great shooters and built like tanks, so you won't go wrong.
My M4586's are my 'go-to' autos, can't beat em...
The M4586 is all stainless (slide and frame) and is DAO (no decocker).
It was the gun I was issued as a rookie and carried for about 7 years before the ghastly Glock 22C was visited upon us. I have never been a huge fan of DAO semi-autos, but my 4586 had a very smooth pull weighing in at about 10 pounds. The gun was extremely reliable for several thousand rounds I shot through it (mostly WWB hardball and Black Talons).
The only trouble I ever had was one day at the academy when we were shooting outside for several hours in sub-freezing temperatures. The gun seized up and would not cycle at all. That was the day I learned about cheap gun oil and cold temps. Application of quality oil (Tetra) fixed the problem immediately. I can hardly blame the gun for that problem.
When the fantastic plastic arrived for issue, we were given the opportunity to buy our 4586's for around $250. I bought mine and still have it. It currently serves home-defense duty. I have utter faith in the gun. It is a top-notch weapon.
