Default S&W 22-A cleaning question

I have a .22/.223 cleaning kit and when I went to clean my new S&W 22-A pistol, the tip of the rod was too big. I had a small cleaning patch with solvent on it but forget about it, no way was it going to fit into the barrel. I didn't want to jam or force in there so I ended up using my Hoppe's Bore-Snake which did a good job.

I prefer to use patches and brush system. Anyone else have a similar problem like this?

I use a Boresnake on mine and it works just fine. I'll take a patch and dab a little solvent on it and wipe the feed ramp and the breech and it cleans up nicely.

Sometimes if the patch is to soked or saturated it won't fit until you squeeze some of the oil or whatever you using out of the patch. Boresnakes work great too.

I use the Otis system with no problems so far. I've only shot my gun twice, but use the same on my Rugers with good results. I got the kit from an air gun store.
