I contacted S&W customer support about it last week and have yet to receive a response from them. Still looks like mid May at best.
It is on my short list too. I'm going to be one of the "first buyer guinea pigs" for them I guess. I plan to buy one the day they hit the shelf.
I have mixed feelings about the .380 auto and the .38 revolver. The laser sights are more than cool, but I have no experience with laser sights to even know if I would like them. I just couldn't help thinking about the time my brother showed me his brand new .357 two shot derringer boot gun. I still don't know what to say about that one either.
More than anything else I'm looking for a pocket auto too.
I have everything but a .380 and a .40 in my "collection" of handguns. The .40 is a sure thing for this year and the bodyguard 380 is the perfect size for me as a back-up pocket pistol.
I shoot all of my guns and carry most of the pistols and revolvers at one time or another depending on the purpose and needs.
The laser will be a nice option, but I'll certainly learn to shoot without it long before I start using it. I would hate to be dependant on it and have it quit in the middle of a serious need, or not work at all when I would need it the most. Learning not to use it is by far a better option here.
I think S&W learned the negative lessons from the Sigma design, and this will be closer to the M&P pistols.
Lastly all but one of my handguns are S&W's and I trust them fervently.
