Default CS9 grips - would this work?

I am waiting to receive a CS9 and anticipate the stock hogues being too thick for my taste. As Big Dog is not doing his for the CS9 anymore and I've had no luck finding anyone else making them, I thought of something else. I've read on several forums how owners of Ruger 22/45's have added bushings to the grip area of the frame so they could install 1911 grips on the pistol. Would this be an option for the CS9? As I recall from changing the grips on a 6906 I once owned, there is some kind of spring assembly that runs down the back strap of the 3rd gens. Obviously that would have to be covered somehow. As stated I don't have my CS9 yet so forgive me if there is some obvious reason this wouldn't work that I don't know about.

Jim----around the time BigDog started making/selling CS grips on this site, there was a post from a member who had made a pair for himself. I remember corresponding with him about it before having BigDog make me a set. I don't seem to have good luck with my searches on this forum but if you have time to dink around looking maybe you will. I can't remember the members name but if I come across it or the info he posted I'll send it along to you. Good luck.

was that me? I made mine in one night. I am impatient. Someone had asked me to make them a pair sometime last year...just way to busy with home and work back then and nothing has changed.

if you are handy, have a few pair of 3913 grips, a hogue grip adapter, some sandpaper, dremel...they can be made.

if you notice, the grip is hard to square on the frame since the frame on this value line and actual 3900 frames are different in the frame where your hand webbing rides.

the mainspring is held by the hogue grip adapter, so no worries there. Your grip is not going anywhere since your hand grips it and held on by a pin or if you are really good and patient, screw to the hogue adapter.

I think it would require some manipulation in the webbing area of the grip for it to square up and the cut out of the mag release assembly to line up with that portion of the frame.

I decided to just enlarge the cutout on the grip but in my opinion, as long as your side plate is completely covered by your grip, you are ok.

Nice work SW, looks every bit as good as my BigDogs. Came across a note I had scribbled to myself about a forum member who went by the name "Bullman" who knew something about making delrin grips for the CS line. Might give him a try via PM Jim. Good luck.

There were several people that made them for themselves on here.
CQB and a female member that went by Wrench both were helpful. They answered all of my questions and CQB even sent me copies that i scaled to try and make them perfect! LOL
My first set of CS 9's was made for Cruizer RN and we sent them back and forth several times to get them right and went through a few sets of grips doing it.
My partner and I are looking to starting the CS 9 production again and I will be happy to make you a set.
If you decide to do them. I will help you in any way I can.....Just ask.
I check in daily.
If anyone wants any 40's or 45's I have stock again for the first couple more that contact me.

Thanks

Big Dog;
I'm sure there are others besides me who are glad to hear you may produce grips for CS9's again. Put me on the waiting list!

I kind of like the idea of the bushings and 1911-style grips -it would create a lot of options where there currently are none - but I would prefer the modified S+W delrins because it would give my CS9 a similar feel to my other S+W's.
