Police Marked 4013 question.
Just as I send off payment for a nice Model 686 I find a 4013 tonight for sale. I am not a fan of .40 S&W but this 4013 is marked and was used by the local PD. I have a soft spot for old Police guns and own a few. None are marked from a Department in my home state or city mind you. From the pics it looks to be in very good shape. Comes in the box with two mags and some ammo. Selling is asked $500 OBO. I sent him a email with a offer of $400. What you all think??

Isn't that how it always goes. I also have a few PD marked Smiths, however most of mine were picked up on the cheap (trade-ins). 4013's are kind of hard to find right now, which creates a supply versus demand issue. I think $400 is more than fair, especially as it will be a novelty for you to have a local PD marked gun. I (in your shoes) might even go a little higher.

Sounds like a fair deal, if it is a TSW even better! Like mlk said, not many compact alloy guns out there right now. A good CCW pistol, nice TDA trigger. The third generation guns run smooth and .40 cal. is plentifull. A good deal on a good gun IMO.

I would recommend aluminum cans and plasma.

I have a few other handguns I have kept around for trading/selling use. Looking forward to getting this and giving .40S&W another try.

I have a 4053, which is the DAO version. (single stack) I love it! I don't think you can go wrong with your new purchase. Good shooting!

Got it!
Picked it up today. Nice clean gun. Great thing is it will fit in all my 4516 holsters and will go great with my former North Dakota Highway Patrol 4506-1.

I tried to pick up a ND Highway Patrol 4506-1 a few years ago but missed out. Instead I ended up with a 4506-1 from a PD in Texas. One of my favorite guns.

Some of NDHP 4506-1 where being sold by a FFL dealer who was a retired ND Patrolmen. His son is a current trooper and I was able to get one for $450. Dang good shooting .45.
It turns out the guy I bought this 4013 from is friends with a Bismarck PD Officer I worked with a lot and know well. I dropped him a email and he told me he also has a Bismarck Police Department stamped Model 66 with some extras like the holster, speed loaders and two sets of grips. One being the factory wood ones!! Going have to get that too! I just got back from the range and this 4013 shoots great. All the other .40S&W I had were a M&P and Sigma. Didn't like to shoot them as .40 in a plastic frame I don't care for. This was great!

Are the North Dakota highway patrol 4506's marked by the agency in any way?

4013
My 4013TSW is one of the few 40's I've shot that I actually like. I think it's actually a better pistol in terms of ergonomics and accuracy (perhaps a function of the former) than my SIG 229.
