Hello,
The Standard Catalog doesn't specifically list your 4506's serial# prefix, but it looks like it's from about 1997-98

During that time frame would that have been a 4506-1.. Most likely with MIM (black hammer & trigger).

Thank you for looking that up for me 824tsv.

Yes Aegis, you are correct it does have a black hammer and trigger. I was not sure what variant I had as all of the 4506-1 that I have seen have been stamped as such. In addition to that I have only seen the serial number above the model number. This one is marked only as a model 4506 and the SN is below the model.

Pictures if anybody wants to have a look.

Beautiful gun. Hard to tell from the pictures but I think that yours is laser engraved, serial, model and other markings. That would make it one of the later produced guns. If you have the original box it should have 03 on the label. It would be a 4506-1 rev 3. A call to S&W would confirm exactly what you have. If I am not mistaken the later guns they dropped the -1 and mark them just 4506..

Thank you very much for the info. Yes, everything is laser engraved and unfortunately I do not have the original box. I will be giving S&W a call today to confirm what you have told me. I like this gun a lot and if I was not in the wonderful state of CA I would buy it myself. As much as I will hate to see it go, this one will end up on gunbroker either today or tomorrow. Maybe one day CA will join the rest of the civilized world.

Just got off the phone with S&W they did confirm that this is the rev 3 but they told me the gun was manufactured in 2001. I thought they stopped manufacturing this model in 1999?

May have been a LE run. They will still make them for law enforcement.
