5906 police trade in
Are there any sources remaining for the 5906 police trades? At one time there seemed to be an endless supply of good used 5906's for $300+/- from several sources. Seems they may have gone the same way as all the cheap 19/66's from a few years ago. I'm trying to find one for my wife, preferably with round trigger guard and adjustable sights. There seem to be a few on GB, but most of the prices are rediculous.
Are the 4006's more readily available?

Summit has been out of them for a while. I have not called to be sure he doesn't have one left, but they are no longer even listed on the website.

Isn't there one for sale in the classifieds here? He had two but sold one, I think.

Yeah, I've been mulling over the one in the classifides. I guess I've been holding out to se if I can turn up an adjustable sight model. That one looks like it's in pretty nice shape. Are there any aftermarket sight options available for the 3rd Gen pistols?

Yep. Meprolight, Trijicon and Warren Tactical (maybe more). Novak also makes a new style adjustable, but not sure if they make it for the 5906.

I prefer the DAO models, and yesterday got a nice 5946 at a gunshop in Angier, NC. It was priced at $320, but I offered them a partial trade of an older Ruger Mark I .22, and for $268 out the door I ended up with the gun, 3 new & unused LEO marked factory hi-cap mags, and a box of Winchester NATO ammo. I was very pleased.
It is my opinion that 3rd Gen S&W semi-autos are some of the best pistols ever made, and certainly the best bargain on the market today. I have owned 4, and never had a malfunction with any of them. Today I even shot some 90 and 95 grain 9mm, and it handles everything with ease.
