Default Aftermarket 39 series mags. Any good?

Picked up a 3913 the other day, unfortunately only with two factory mags, so the search for extras is on.

Now, factory mags range anywhere from $34 to $45 depending on what website you check, but I noticed that ProMag makes one priced at roughly half that. ($19-$22) They would make good range mags and save me close to a 50 bucks. I'm not intending these to be carry mags.

Anyone have experience with these things? I do have Some Beretta 92 Promags, and they have worked fine over the years, but I bought those a long time ago.

Next to original S&W mags, MecGar makes the best IMHO. Promags seem to put out both good and lousy, you take your chances.

One of the third generation's strong points is the factory magazine's very high durability and feed reliability. I would never consider using an aftermarket mag in my 3913, even at twice the price for the factory ones. When I feel a need to practice malfunction clearing, I can always load dummy cartridges...

I have a couple Promags I use for range mags. Both have worked without problems. Even so I still use them only for the range.

I have several factory mags and 2-3 Promags for my S&W 4506-1. The gun is for range use only, but I have never had any issues with the Promags. But my experience with Promags in double stack guns is very different. Complete garbage. So like Raider said; hit or miss.

Ditto. Bought one a while back (1999) for my Beretta 96 Centurion. It started having problems feeding after approx 200rds. I didn't even bother getting a refund or giving it away to someone. I just threw it away.

You get what you pay for. I'd might still use them for range use but NEVER for carry.
