Well I had my 39-2 out today and I wondered why don't I carry this daily. It is thin and it shoots really nice. The mag capasity is not big but neither is my J frame. So who out there carries a S&W 39 daily? Also what holsters are you all using. Thanks in advance.

See the "model 39 holster fashion show" thread for holsters that work for me and my 39s. I'm a relatively new concealed carry permit holder, but the model 39 is handy for those concealment occasions. Another option is the good old J-frame Smith, of course. They are about equal for comfort, in my opinion.

I do not, but the former (now retired) Assistant Chief at my department did. He carried a 59 on duty and a 39 off duty. He was pretty proud of those guns and routinely shot perfect scores at qualifications. He's been retired for a number of years now but I bet he still carries that 39.

I used to alternate between a 39-2 and a 3913, depending on my mood, weather conditions and planned activities. I've since switched to .40, but both 9mm's are still fine carry pieces.
I shot the 39 a little better than the 3913, and the 4" barrel gives the 9mm a little more oomph, but then the 3913 conceals a tiny bit better and the stainless is slightly more durable. 3913 was mostly a "summer gun," while the 39-2 was my preferred winter piece.
I'm still looking for a 4040PD to replace my 4003 and P239.

I have carried a Model 39 on occassion. A lot easier than carrying a semi-auto with a thicker slide, and not too heavy either.

Daily Carry....
I carry this 908/910 Hybrid stoked with 124 Grain +P Gold Dots.
100% Reliable, accurate and alot easier to reload than a J-Frame.
Holsters range from a Bianchi Pistol Pocket or an SOB to sometimes just slipping it into my waistband Mexican Carry if I'm just running into town for a cup of coffee.

Not in a long time now but once I did. It is a very elegant weapon.

The Mod 39 is a joy to carry in an original Roy Baker pancake holster but its a little bulky for summer wear unless I wear a jacket. I have alternated between the 39 and the Colt Officers but when it gets blazing hot I carry a Colt Detective Special in front pants pocket.

Now that spring has sprung, the 4506 has gone back into hibernation and the 39-2 is back in the holster.
