Default Scope or electronic sight? S&W 3rd Gen Scope Mount

Anybody have a scope or electronic sight on their 3rd Gen? I just picked up a B-Square scope/sight rail for a 3rd Gen Smith off of eBay. Didn't need it. Didn't want it. But for the price I had to bid (no one else was). I was actually surprised when I got the notice that I had won. Appears like it clamps on to the front of the trigger guard. I won't know for sure until it gets here, but I am sure I will have some fun with it! Hmmm maybe I need an Aimpoint on my 5903!

Depending on the range you are going to be shooting, I would put a red dot on for shorter range and scope for longer range. Hope you can post some pics of the B-Square mount, I didn't know they made them for the 3rd Gens. I have picked up one for my 2206, which was no easy task to do.

Thanks for posting the pic. Will be interested to see how it looks on your gun. The one I got for my 2206 fits pretty well, just have to get a red dot for it.

I have a Burris Fastfire in a Larue Tactical Iron Dot mount on my AR15. I like the Burris FF and has performed well. The mount is costly but the mini-dot sight was pretty reasonable. Of course with a .22 you can probably get by with a clone off of eBay for 1/3 the price.

The mount arrived today and I attempted to install it on a 5903. It went on but was not as stable or square as I expected. Then I realized this mount it probably for a square trigger guard (and all of my 3rd Gens are round). The parts list has the date "December 1989" on it, which I believe was during the time the square trigger guards were still being produced. I am trying to decide if I should try and mod it, sell it or buy a 3rd Gen with a square trigger guard!

Hello it is aug 30 2014 I am looking for a mount for a red dot or holographic pistol site for my 5903-5906 w square trigger guard
Hard to find info on these, My eyes are getting older and I want a better sight picture. It would be nice if someone made a mount that would go over the slide, as there be less wear and tear on the sight as if it were mounted on the slide Please Help I have been member her for awhile and have had some nice posts posted on my fav wonder nines
thank you and I hope to get a reply [email protected] Indy usa

UPDATE to my previous post on electronic holographic sights on aug 30 14
I have been doing my research, and have been told that the side mounts are not the way to go, but it is better to put the electronic sight on the rear of the slide. Sight Mark makes a mini sight, and they have mounts for most of the Newer pistols, but none for the 5906-03
The factory sight is a Novak #8 with an 11 mm dovetail.
I am looking for an 11 mm dovetail mount with the pictinney rail-only one slot needed for the mini sight. Which is called Micro Reflex sight
If anyone knows of a dovetail pic rail mount, I would like to hear of it.
The older shooters would benefit from open eye shooting wiwth the reflex sight. I spoke with the engineer at SightMark and he states the sight will take the g forces with no problem. If I cananot find the dovetail pic rail mount I wll have one made by my machinist friend.
I will keep others posted and when I get mine engineered I will post it to this sight..The S&W sight that is :-)
ted in Indy Hope one of you can direct me to the dovetail mount
