Default 1911 holster help

Does anyone know of a holster maker making something close to the old Bianchi Speed Scabbard for the 1911? When I see one listed for sale they are either damaged or the price is out of my range. Thanks for the help.

I am not extremely familiar with that holster, after a google search, I came up with this picture. Are you trying to find one of this style?

Give Joel Rybacki a shot. You can Do a Google search for JR Custom Leather. He's working up a holster for me right now, but if you show him a design you want, he will typically draw it up and make it for you.

I don't look at holsters much anymore, but I am surprised you do not see them in your local shops. I still see one now and then in the used holster box. They are never in new condition, but sometimes pretty nice.

Have you checked with El Paso? I think they used to have a similar model. If they don't show it on-line, you might give them a call and ask if they could make you one. I am pretty sure they had that style at one time.

Have you checked with John Bianchi at Frontier Gun Leather? John has not been actively involved Bianchi International, the company he founded way back when, for quite a few years. He has, however, remained active in the gun leather business producing holsters for SAS, etc. If you want the real deal, check with the master.

Luis,
I know the one you're talking about, the #2 Speed Scabbard. Unfortunately, I haven't seen one, or one from any other maker like it, for a number of years. I think when the thumb break craze of the late 70's hit, the #2, with its strap, went mostly out of style.

From a 1982 Bianchi catalog. I had a black basket weave holster and misplaced it, I supose; can't find it anywhere. These only came with 2 1/4" belt slots.

Louis, El Paso Saddlery still makes them as their Tom Threepersons models. They have fallen out of favor these days because of the exposed trigger inherent in that design.

There were some very similar "scabbards" made by Safariland with covered trigger guards that I see on eBay from time to time.

One of those might be more "match legal" if you ever shoot in competitions.
