I was at my local fun show yesterday looking for a K frame target gun when I saw a guy walking around with a pristine S&W Box tucked under his arm. So I casually asked, "What's in the box?"...
Unfired, in the box with all the goodies.... "A" series 41 w/5.5" barrel! No cocking indicator, so best guess is it's ~1979 vintage. The box looks like it was never off the shelf, no corner damage, etc.
I'm almost ashamed of what (little) I paid for it! Let's just say I've seen fired pieces with no box/papers go for $300 more than I paid....
As luck would have it, I had grabbed my Ruger MK II Competition Slabside as trade fodder for the show. It's just too front end heavy in the long matches. So, not only did I get the 41, I was able to unload the Ruger for a fair price. A .22 in and a .22 out, perfect!
Oh...and the BEST part? This "unfired" model 41 now has ~ 200 rounds through after I promptly left show and got her broken in! SWEET shooter!
