1911 platform in .357 sig or .40?
I have never heard of it but, then I am far from knowing it all. So here's a question to the Gurus, does anyone make a 1911 platform about the size of the 5903 or Sig 229 in the .357 sig or .40 cals.? This is what comes from retirement your mind starts to ask you dumb questions like this LOL!!!

There have been though the years.
However, there is little logic to do it. The purpose behind the design of both cartridges that you mentioned was to allow smaller grip frames to be used. Since you are sticking with the long 1911 grip frame you might as well chamber the firearm for 10MM or 9x23 instead.

Supposedly there are a lot of issues of getting a FS 1911 to run with .357SIG. I am only aware of one MFG that offers a 5906 size 1911 in .40S&W and that is the EMP.

you may want to contact fusion firearms, they are a custom shop and they do a darn good job. They should be able to tell you what they can do. I saw them post a newsletter about new 357 sig bbls
