Default sw 422 I need to clean the firing pin channel

Greetings, I'm new to the site and need some help. I have a sw422 which I bought used years ago and to my knowledge the firing pin channel has never been cleaned. After field stripping and a good cleaning the pistol starts miss firing after 30-40 rounds.

How do you remove the firing pin on a 422 to clean the channel.

Thanks for any help

After you remove the slide, you will need to punch out the firing pin retain pin. You can't miss it. You can use a small nail if need be, along with a rubber mallet.

Thanks for the advice Whodat and Maggie. I thought it would be something like that, but I don't want to mess up a good gun, and thought to ask first.

I've changed / replaced two of them , gallon freezer bag let's you see what you are doing, contains small parts. I put a loose magnet in the bag too, just in case. Mine still is off / on with Rem. ammo from Wally World.

that's a good tip Maggie about the freezer bag. I just got done cleaning my 422 and the firing pin was what I suspected years of built up residue. A good cleaning and moves alot easier now. I'll know Tuesday night if that's all it is or if I need new springs.
