Default 4516 info

I am attempting to disassemble a 4516-1. I removed the top slide, removed the spring and barrel. The right sde decocker lever was removed but that is where I am stuck. Does anyone have any info, links, or video links that will help with disassembling the top slide. I just want to take it apart to clean and check. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

You need to push in the firing pin in past the safety body. First hold in the firing pin block down and then push the firing pin in with a thin punch. Then slide the safety body out but watch for the detent plunger to pop out as soon as it clears the slide. Rotate the safety lever down as you come out and it will hold the firing pin down to where you can pull your punch out and finish pulling the safety body clear. The firing pin will fly out at this point, it helps to take it apart in a freezer bag to catch everything that flys off. You'll need all three of your hands to put it back together.

you need three hands.

depress the firing pin safety, then depress the firing pin.

start to push out the decocker assembly towards the non ejection side with your thumb

at a certain point the firing pin will need a slight push as it will be in the way. a heavy paper clip or a 1/16" punch will be thin enough to press the f/p a lil more.

as the decocker assem is on the way out, caution as there is a detent and spring that could potentially go flying.

remove decocker assem

point firing pin channel in a safe direction, depress F/P safety plunger to release the firing pin and firing pin spring.

careful not to cram crude into the safety plungers which have openings in the firing pin channel.

good luck

Thanks for the replies. Came apart without anything flying. Cleaned up everything and put it back together. Works like a charm. Thanks for your help.
