Default 4516-1 or 4516-2 (or-3)

First post for me. Hello all. I recently bought a 3913 and now the addiction has begun. (I'll get pics up of that one soon. I might change the grips to grey like the LS version). But already I am wanting a 4516. I have researched the differences between the 4516-1 and 4516-2 models. Dual recoil springs, smaller diameter guide rod, guide rod tunnel bushing, barrel has wider hood, black mim trigger and hammer I think is it. I had heard better metal for the barrel in the -2 but could not confirm it.
My question is.....have any of those things made the -2 any more or less reliable than the -1. Is one prefered over the other? Or even the -3? Once I answer that question, the search is on!
Thanks in advance.

I 've had a -1 for several years now. No issues. Just use the correct magazines for your particular revision.

I think that the 4516-1, 4516-2 and 4516-3 are all equally reliable. I currently own a 4516-3 and have shot a 4516-1 extensively. No issues to report. Just great accuracy and superb reliability, shot after shot.

A fellow on my old squad had a 4516-2 and he loved it.....still does AFAIK. He carried it till he went to the Glock 21.

The only visible differences (exterior wise) between the three are the longer tang on the 4516-2 and -3. The 4516-3 also having laser etched markings, vice the rollmarks of the other 4516 variants.

The lack of MIM parts in the 4516-1 and early production 4516-2's is also a plus. Despite the rantings of the MIM defenders on the superiority of MIM parts, the MIM mag catch on my 4516-3 snapped, like the cheap pot metal it was. S&W sent me a forged mag catch which I replaced it with.

I think any one of these 4516 versions will serve you well. If I get another, it would most likely be a 4516-1 with flash chromed hammer and trigger.......to match my early production 3913. Regards 18DAI.

I have had a 4516-1 as my EDC for close to 4 years now. Got it LNIB and have had only one small issue. When I first fired it it wouldn't extract the spent case every time. I took off the extractor claw and lightly dressed the surface with a India stone. I have had no issues since.

In regards to mags I have used all the different colored follower mags with ZERO issues. The yellow, black and orange follower mags all work.
