Default 1911 .45 3inch Pro Series is out

Saw one today here in CT. Was in a rush so i didn't have time to handle it. If it were only in 9mm it would be mine.

Anyone else seen this model out? I've been waiting since Jan of 09 when I handled it at the SHOT Show.

Saw one at the local fun shop. I don't remember what the price was but think it was over $1100.

Any other reported sightings? I'll have my dealer start asking his distributors, again.

Tempting. Very tempting.

I don't have a 3" .45, only 3.25", 3.5", 3.75", 4.25", 4.5" & 5" guns.

I can plead a perfectly reasonable excuse.

I've never considered myself a 'collector'.

I just have a number of "working .45's" at hand from which to select.

Even my Colt WWII Pacific Theater of Operations Commemorative .45 pistol has seen some time on the firing line. I look at it as another 'working gun' ... albeit a bit fancy, perhaps, and a leather holster dulls the shine of the highly polished nickel finish, a bit. (You probably don't want to know about the throat job so it handled a variety of JHP's. )

That 3" gun is a pretty tempting model, though. Getting such diminutive 1911's to run well is a fair trick, and I'm guessing S&W has taken their time on this one to get it right.
