New Purchase: 4516-2
Where I live, Northern AZ, you don't see a lot of nice 3rd gens. I stopped by one of the few local stores and found a very nice 4516-2. Unfortunately, it was on consignment, so I couldn't get them to budge on the price ($520 out the door), but I bought it anyway. It did come with the original grips, 3 magazines, a holster and a double mag carrier. Anyway, I was just wondering what kind of deal I got? I know it doesn't matter much, since I'm happy with it, but it's nice to know.

Very nice, Firebird. I just got a 4516 no dash in a trade, but from the prices I've seen and considering all you got with it, I think you got a good deal.

Very nice. 3rd Gens don't pop up very often around here either (as you may already know) so when they do they get scooped up fast. So you can either pay the price or let someone else have it a few minutes later. That being said, I think you came out just fine for the package you got. I have seen them sell online lately for what you paid (and more) and those buyers still had to pay shipping and FFL fees. Enjoy.

I don't know enough about prices on the compacts to really comment but will anyway. It seems like a good deal for its condition and extras. If you're happy, I'm happy

I figured it was a good enough deal to not pass it up. Really I have not been a .45 cal guy in the past and really like my 9mm, 10mm, and 40 cals. It was one of the few guns I have picked up that is actually clean from the gun store. Now I just have to get some .45 ammo since I don't reload for it yet. I don't think it will be replacing my 4040 as my main carry gun anytime soon, but it will be seeing a lot of use soon enough.

Don't have a 4516, but did get a 4566 earlier this year. With your holster/grips/extra mag/mag carrier prices, it looks like the gun itself was in the $400-425range. That is the range where the 4566's have been recently.

You got a really good deal, IMO.
I paid close to $600 several years ago for my NIB 4516-3. Add the leather you got and your still not to $600.
The nice 4516's are scarce these days. The 4516-2 is particularly desireable as it has all the improvements made to the 4516 without the cheesy looking laser etched markings.
I shot many different compact 45's when I went shopping for one. The 4516 was the only one to combine superb accuracy with bet your life reliability. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI.

Excellent purchase!!! For the money spent you've got one of the finest compact .45ACP ever built, and you even got leather to go along with the deal.
