Help me finish my 4566TSW project, please!
I have gathered and assembled all of the parts needed to build a "Frankengun" 4566TSW.
All of the parts, that is, with the exception of:
The Barrel.
S&W, Numrich, Midway, Brownells, Jack First, and a few other small suppliers as well as several internet searches have turned up nothing.
So I am turning to my Forum Friends.
Either of these barrels will work:
S&W p/n: 267180000 superseded to 276100000
Fits 4563TSW, 4566TSW, 4583TSW, 4586TSW
S&W p/n: 236960000 superseded to 276090000
Fits later 4566, 4586 with wide hood barrels.
(The only difference between the two I can identify is the lack of the loaded chamber indicator hole.)
I have a new, unfitted, unfired (naturally) early 4566/4567 narrow hood barrel to trade as well as an early new 4013/4014 narrow hood barrel in the same unfitted and unfired condition (for you 10mm conversion enthusiasts).
Not to mention gazillions of other parts (Let me know what you are looking for). Although I'm not looking to sell parts, I'm just trying to find a barrel. If swapping parts is what you want to do then I will try to accommodate.
I also have cash, if that is what it takes.
If you have a .45 caliber barrel and you are not sure what it fits, let me know. I can identify it.
If I can't find a barrel then I may be forced to resort to Plan B which is buying a surplus 1066 barrel and cutting the chamber to .40 Super (which I might do anyway but gee whiz that ammo is expensive).
Thanks in advance!
John

Goodness... where on Earth will you find a "surplus 1066 barrel" ?!
.45 Super is neat, would be extremely easy at the load bench. And don't tell me you play with all these cool S&W conversions and projects but YET you don't handload? Because I just couldn't possibly wrap my head around that.
Sorry that I cannot help with your barrel search.

There's a gun show tomorrow and one guy normally has some odd ball S&W parts. I think he had a 4566 barrel but can't remember what size the hood was. I'll check it out and let you know.

You bring up a great point, Sevens.
I'll sweeten the deal.
Tell me where I can find a .45 barrel and I'll tell you where you can find a 1066 barrel.
And no, I don't reload. I did some with my brother about 40 years ago and I bought a Square Deal B off a buddy a year or so ago, but I haven't set it up yet. I don't shoot competition. I like working on guns as much or more than I like shooting them. I don't like cleaning guns even though it is just detail stripping and reassembling, which I do enjoy. I guess I just don't like wiping off dirty parts.

Haha, I truly have no use whstsoever for a 1066 barrel, but I think I would be compelled to buy it if I saw one, after the shock of finding one wore off.

Thank you, Shorty! I would appreciate that!
BTW The later barrel that I am searching for has a hood that measures a hair under 1/2" and the early barrel has a hood around 5/16".
Barrel length approx 4 1/4".

It's a crazy, wild long shot, but it wouldn't hurt anything to contact this place: Guns n Parts - New and Used Guns Bought and Sold.
If he doesn't have one, he still might know where to find one.

John, I must be missing something on this. Why cut a 10mm chamber to .45ACP/Super dimensions? To make what?

Sorry, BLUEDOT37. I typed .45 Super but I meant .40 Super.
Not being able to find this barrel is like a persistent itch in my brain that I can't scratch. (Apologies to Sheldon Cooper.)

The .45 Super is simply a .45 ACP in a cartridge case of stronger build strength and higher pressure. The round you are describing sounds like the .400 Cor-Bon. It is a bottle neck round that kind of does the .45/.40 in a way similar to the way 9/.40 works in the .357 Sig.

Thanks, Sevens!
I was having a lengthy senior moment.
I meant to say .40 Super when I said .45 Super.
And sorry, BLUEDOT37, for the confusion. It was my mistake.

No problem! I know that feeling too. That's one reason it takes me so long to complete a post.
