4046 Short Slide
Saw one of these today. Non TSW, SS trigger and hammer, all markings laser etched, hammer sets at half cock instead of quarter cock, slide is cut for safety lever but blank is round not shaped like the cut-out on slide. So this would be an early short slide 4046 with some long slide parts used in it. Anyone have one like it?

Is it possible someone had a 4013TSW slide converted to DAO and then mated it to a 4046 frame creating their own .40 cal. SSV? What was etched on the slide? Did it have a box and if so did that have a Product # on it?

DobK63:
You may have seen one of the "Salesmans Sample" 4046 guns. These were shipped to various police dept's for testing. The following pic's shows a pre-production 4046 shipped to the Tulsa Police Dept. in - March 1991. note: both letters!

That is it Pre-64. By short slide I meant a 4006 length slide which is shorter than a pre-TSW 4046 slide. Also the S&W legend and address are stamped as in the pic, but every other marking is laser-etched. It is NIB and I called to put a hold on it.

Mr. DOBK63,
Post some pics when it arrives...If you can't handle it - you now know someone that would like a matched set (hint..hint)

Interesting configuration (pic). Oh, and if the should/shouldn't I question comes up, I vote "shoot it!"

Thanks for the extra pics. I will pick it up on Tuesday and will try to get pics up later that day. I can't remember the serial number and am curious how close it is to yours. The warning on the right side of the slide "Caution: Model Number And Parts Must Match" is one I had never seen before.

Mr. DOBk63,
Thanks for posting the pictures! Note the variations between these two "sample" DOA 4046's, serial #'s...
Thanks again,
J.C.

J.C.
I expected the serial #s to be closer than they are. I noticed yours has night sights and mine does not. Any other differences I'm missing?
