Mine are just about gone. They are fun. My trigger finger is developing muscles...

Default New Holster for 4586

Here is a shot of my 4586 in it's new Simply Rugged Cuda. The holster is fantastic. It fits and looks great in every way. I got it in less then 2 weeks too. This will be my primary cold weather carry and maybe warm weather too. I have not tried it under a light shirt yet, but if it holds tight to the body like all my other Simply Rugged holsters it will work fine.

I finally picked these up from my dealer today. They arrived in Springfield on July 28th and just got finished. They arrived right at the start of the two week shutdown and then there was some confusion about what I wanted and the reps getting it squared away in the computer. Then there was the fact that they had shipped together and so on but they're finally home.

I had hoped Smith would treat me like they did with my Gunbroker 5946TSW lemon but they did not. No free lunch for me this time so I cheaped out on them and only had the rails installed for which they charged this time. Scotchbrite worked fine on these two (I even hit the aluminum frame with it lightly). By the way, can anyone spot a minor issue apparent on the 4553? It's too hard to see I think, Smith put a standard length rail on the compact frame so it sticks out approximately 1/8" - that's PER-feshunal.

If anyone knows Officer Hicks on the Newport News PD, tell him I got his 4586TSW. His "Request For Issue" from the armory/rangemaster/whatever was in the box. Also tell him I'll treat much better than he did .

Still a great deal, thanks for the heads-up!

I had my trade-ins out to the range today. I didn't have much time or ammo but I've been itching to try them out since receiving them. The 4553 was right on the money at 10 yards while it seemed the 4586 was hitting just a touch high at the same distance. Both were centered horizontally.

There also has just not been enough DAO discussions lately so I'm desperate even if I'm the only one having the conversation .

Nice guns, Scooter. I'm looking for a 4506 and may carry one on duty. My agency had issued them and I never shot one until after we traded them for M&P's. I've been carrying a glock. I'm in MN also.

Default Help me sweeten the 4586

May I ask for some feedback? Since we are discussing a DAO, may I ask how some of you are handling the long and heavy trigger pull? I use my pistol for range a couple of times monthly. Usually a few hundred rounds each session. I am a consistent low to the left a inch or two or more at 7-10 yards despite very concerted efforts. I have installed new Wolff springs, had a local smith center the sights -front & rear- they were off and just tried practice. I have had numerous revolvers that worked well in DA for me. What should I consider? BTW - I use all WWB 230 grain.

THX folks. I appreciate it.

I was shooting mine low and left at first too. I found that I was "milking" the grip. It happens when you do not grip the pistol firm enough. I really wanted to shoot this pistol well so I started to really concentrate on what I was doing. I am shooting it much better now. I did not move the sights on mine.

Also, I got one of those Gripmaster hand exersisers with the individual finger pads. I have been working on squeezing one finger without moving the others. I think that made a big difference. I can now sqeeze the trigger without the front sight dipping.

Don't give up. It's a great pistol and worth the effort.

I experienced a similar thing with my Bud's 4586 - consistently left of point of aim. I'm a cross-dominant eye shooter, so I use a different stance shooting two-handed to accommodate. In working on it, I found that tightening the grip of my left fingers over the right hand solved it. Try it - it seems to help lock the grip hand from turning or twisting to the left with heavy trigger pulls.

Thanks all for the quick feedback. I appreciate it. It gives me another reason for a trip to the range. I will try the suggestions and follow up this weekend.

Default 4586 shooting follow up

I really want to say thanks to all of the fine folks that offered suggestions & help & advice to my post. It is good to feel not alone. I have tried several items: strengthening the hand through exercise; a dedicated effort to breathe and focus and roll the trigger finger through the arc and follow through and - comon sense here - use a firm grip. All helped and worked to help me improve my target hits. I grouped better and tighter at all distances. Same WWB 230. Same distances: 7 & 10 and 25 yds. But it just was not fun. Maybe I am not cut out for DAO only; maybe I am getting older and need my revolvers again. So I think that I will be posting her on the Forum for another to appreciate her in the near future. You guys are great. THX.

So did anyone get tired of there 4586 yet? I missed the big Buds sell off (out of the country)and am hoping someone is looking to fund another project. I'm interested but not trying to put your kids through collage. P.M. me if anyone is interested or has some info on these guns. If it shoots like my 3953 I'm sure I will like it.
