Default 6906 vs 5906?

I have owned a 5906 since it was new and looking at 6906's for a smaller gun. I see may used on gunbroker what should I look for?
I have shot the 5906 tons and load mostly self cast TC's and RNL with great groups. But is almost as large as my 1911
It is a good dependable gun but was/is really for carry thus me wanting a smaller 6906 to get even smaller but not as small as my PPK/S
So Talk me into a 6906 before I end up spending to much $$ on a compack 45acp

I have both 5906 and 6906. The 6906 is my favorite but both of them is far better for me than the plastic striker fired guns. I have had M&P9s and 9cs both and I still prefer the 6906.

I don't have pics, but the 6906 is significantly smaller than the 5906. (I've got a 6944 and a 5946, the small alloy 9mm and the big steel 9mm respectively.) Also, of course, not only smaller but lighter, with the alloy frame. The 69-series pistols have a 3.5" barrel, and the grip frame is shorter by 3 rounds of capacity in 9mm.

Given the diminutive 9mms we have today, I find it moderately amusing that S&W referred to the original 469/669 series pistols as the "minigun."

I am seriously thinking about picking up two or three 6906s, even though they're discontinued, because at current prices I think they're a great, great buy on a solid compact/service 9mm.

The best part about the 69 series is that it can use the magazines from the 59 series. So, for carry purposes, you could use the standard 12 rnd mag in the 69 series pistol and carry 1 or 2 spare 59 series mags loaded up with 15 rounds each. The 69 series is a set of a lot of great pistols. You won't regret getting one.

The 6906 is smaller. It will take the 5906 magazines, and there is a spacer available to cover the gap. I have been looking locally for a 5906 in excellent condition for a while now to replace my 910S. Not easy to find in this area. A dealer called me a few months ago and said that he had taken one in that was like new. When I got there I found that it was a 6906, not a 5906. I bought it anyway since it was like new. The 6906 is a really nice gun, but I prefer the larger 5906.

I was carrying my 5906 today. It is one of my favorites. I rotate it with my 1911's.

The 6906 was just small and light enough (barely) for me to use mine as a BUG to my 5906, carried it in an ankle rig for years.
