Default M39-2 barrel stamp question

Was cleaning the 39-2s and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on when the barrel markings were changed? As indicated in the photo, top barrel is in my 1981 M39-2, the bottom is from a 72-73 version.

Model 36, 39-2, 410
