A stove pipe occurs, when a case is not ejected, but is caught between the slide and barrel pointing up like a stove pipe.

Feel free to ask all the questions you want. TV really sucks and it gives us all something to do.

Just remember there is no such thing as a stupid question. The people who get hurt don't bother to ask any questions.

And you're very welcome. I'm glad you asked.

Hmmmm, think your fingers were thinking for themselves. The date you're thinking of it 9-13-1994.

Do not feel alone. I have been actively shooting over 50 yrs, been a collector for over 45 yrs and someone comes up with a new acronym that I have never encountered almost daily.

It may be possible that someone gets tired fingers from typing and tries some type of cell phone texting abbreviations.

Welcome and ask any questions you have. There is a great bunch of people here, both male and female, that know the answer to any question........well almost. I think they are still trying to decide which is better to use, a 9mm, a .40 or a .45acp. Pretty much anything other than that can be explained immediately.

Many of acronyms depend on the make of the gun for example RNLT is specific to Browning shotguns meaning Round Knob Long Tang, Pre-64 refers to Winchester Rifles made before cost cutting manufacturing changes in made 1964, and the list goes on. I've been a firearms enthusiast for many many years and still don't know half of them.

I wonder if a sticky might be of help to some of the forum's younger members? There are probably a lot more abbreviations that are commonly used on the forum.

I agree that some of the "insider" acronyms are pretty frustrating. Gee...this isn't 1860 with Western Union telegraph, it isn't necessary to pull metal letters out of wooden trays and type set, and it isn't texting....why not just spell out the terms and make it easy for everybody, eh?

Only the old Brownings. More addicted to 1911 and .45acp guns.
