Night sights relamped
Send my S&W 4586 slide off to Trijicon to have the night sights relamped. I got the slide back in 3 weeks. They charged $18 per lamp which means a total cost of $54 (two lamps in the back and one in front). They do not charge for shipping.
I’m very happy with the work that was performed.
My 4586 came from the big sale that Bud’s Gun Shop (Lexington KY) had several weeks ago. I used Flitz polish to clean and shine the stainless and Flitz Gun Wax to keep it looking new. Installed new S&W grips from Midway.
For a police trade-in this gun is in excellent condition and now looks almost new. I have $345 invested, how could I not be happy.

What is the address info on Trijicon where you sent yours. Mine is still visible but dim. If I keep it I may go that route.

The year code is the last two digits located on the right side of the sight. Mine was 'H3 00' which means my sights were installed in 2000 and therefore were 10 years old. The warranty covers dead lamps not dim lamps. My sights were so dim that they were not really useful but were not dead. The new sights have a revised code of 'H3 10'. Remember they only replace the tiny vial which includes the white ring not the entire metal sight.

How much brighter are they? Mine are dim but not dead too. I was thinking of having them relamp mine with green front and yellow rear but may just go all green. Any thoughts on the color choices? The date code on mine is all but gone.

I have had a couple of Berettas relamped by Trijicon. The difference is significant. I have two 4586 pistols with night sights (one from Bud's, one I had before). Both could use the relamping, but my older 4586 sights are completely dead, while the Bud's 4586 sights are dim but still usable. I think I will send the older 4586 off to be relamped first.

I prefer the green / green color myself, I have a Sig with the green front / yellow rear, and the yellow does not seem to stand out as well, at least to me.How would a person tell who the mfg was ? I have a P220 Sig, that came from the factory with night sights, that I would like to have relamped.

I just had mine re-lamped, a SW3953tsw, & had a Sig 22? done there last summer. Love it! Had the SW in the yellow rear & green front. Haven't shot it yet, but I can definitely see the difference, no doubt about how it is lined up.

I sent my S&W 1911 Pro series slide to Trijicon, at a cost of $24.00 for shipping and insurance, they had it four 4 weeks and sent it back and hadn't done a damn thing to it. Still have a dead front h3 10 sight. Not very good PR!
Am afraid to send it in again !
