I made a trilp to the range today to try out some new powders and one not so new. I bought some new Unique last weekend at the gun show and a pound of Universal Clays and HS-6.
I had been wanting to try the last two especially since I'd never used them in .45 and was very pleased with them. The Unique was even cleaner than my old that's been around some 12 years or so. You could see the evidence in the smoke and in the cleaning.
The first target was with the 200 gr GDHP and 6.8 gr of Universal. I was using a 6:00 hold and in the last group(upper) used a more bullseye sight picture and was quite pleased with the results.
The second target was with 8.3 gr of HS-6 and the Hornady 230 FMJ. I was surprised how well it did and was pretty content with that load.
Both of these were shot with the 457-I'm beginning to really like this pistol. It's now had 250 rounds through it and today it even fed some old 200 gr LSWC's I had laying around from about ten years ago. Yep, going to like this pistol.
