I just found a LNIB Model 41, which was made in 1971. It is in excellent condition with box and docs. I was wondering how much it is worth.

The barrel length is a plus, the condition is a plus, box and docs is a plus and 1971 should make it an early "A" series gun which is a plus. I would put the gun more around 900-1000.

Best way to determine CMV is to search GB or AA or GA and see what they are selling for. That is the only way to determine real market value.

I would say that $930 is about top price if the pistol and magazines are really LNIB, not over the top but at it. Very nice price setting, IMO if it was a bit higher I would say no, but $930, that’s right at the head scratching point.

IMO LNIB is not worth much additional for a M 41 unless you are a collector, they wear very well, and lightly used is fine.

Good luck getting what a gun is "worth" these days. Unless your giving away a gun and you offer to pay the shipping and the tranfer fee, guns just aren't moving.

I think you are right. But, on the other hand. Now is the time to buy. I just picked up a HK45c for a good price.

Model 41's are always seem to go for a high price and ones in excellent condition with the A serial number started in 1971 and ones without the A and the cocking indicator (deleted in 1978) seem to sell for the most. $850 to $950 is not to much for one as you described if it is in excellent condition with original like new magazines, box, Etc.

People occassionally buy one for less when they catch a deal from someone who bought it long ago or inherited it and really don't know the value of them.

These are wonderful shooters and my 1968 with 7.5 inch barrel and muzzle brake goes with me to the range on every trip. It's way more accurate then I am and it never has ever failed to feed or fire with any ammo. It like standard velocity 22LR ammo the best and CCI standard velocity seems to be what it likes best.

Interestingly, this 41 was origianally purchased by a S&W employee for a rediculously low amount. The box has the original invoice in it. Nevertheless, I look forward to having it. There are three other handguns I have wanted since a youngster. Those would be the P210, the P08, and a 6" blue steel Python. Timing and money, that's all it takes. Don't seem to have enough of either at the moment.
