This is my first post and I was looking for a ship date on a model 41 I picked up last weekend ser # 718XX . It came with a S&W box set of weights / muzzle brake .
1966 - but as we who "play the game" know,Jinks is the official source of "ship" dated. As in other threads, we know nothing was done in crono order by S&W because frames were run (and stamped) in batches and last in first out for assembly - and then shipped as pulled from the finished inventory. Folks, we do our best with the few tools in our tool kits, but it is somewhat SWAG - and I am not 100% confidant in Jinks' records. BUT AIN"T IT FUN!!!!

For what it is worth I bought 795XX on 03/25/67 from H H Harris Chicago, Harris at the time was I think either S&Ws largest dealer/distributor or at least one of the largest. I doubt much if it was on the shelf long.
