Default 4006..whats it worth??

Hello there.
If I were to come across a 4006 with KCPD lasercut into the slide, (they did that for KCPD officers in the 80's I believe, but I dont know how many were done), what would the worth be?
Great condition.

As always, thanks for your assistance.

be safe

I have seen CHP and California State Parks guns go for, depending on condition, between 350-600. Obviously, the higher priced guns were in pristine shape. I'd like to get my hands on one of those CA state park guns. I kind of like the PD guns.

^^ me too. I think the KCPD officers at the time got them for @$350 or so, just curious what its worth now. Ive seen a couple at gun shows where the owner wanted $1000
I doubt MO gets the same recognition as the left coast, though
Thanks for your response

yep you just have to carry one for 10 years and fire about 20,000 rounds through each one and you get to buy one cheap. Now they are issuing MP40 full size or compact

Looking at those nice display cases you got there, I can just imagine how boring a plastic gun would look in there. Gotta have that steel man...

I apologize I think we hijacked this thread (sorry)!!!!!

"you just have to carry one for 10 years and fire about 20,000 rounds through it, and you get to buy one"

Actually you can buy your service weapon when they replace them. The price is based on what the agency would get if they sold it on the open market. If not sold to the officer, I believe they are sold to the suppler or jobber (not certain).

Also officers can buy their service weapon and keep their badge when they retire. Some badges are not issued but produced as special additions which you purchase yourself and wear for specific limited period of time.

I think a framed weapon, badge patch, and picture of the officer in uniform with the weapon make a fantastic collectable. I plan have mine donated to our training center when I croak.

Firearms issued to patrol officers are usually more worn than those issued to supervisors or managers.

Sometime a firearm manufactures makes too many and sells the overrun on the open market. I had a Colorado State Patrol 4013 that I obtained that way.

Badges should not be sold or traded until they are obsolete.

I got my 4506 as a police trade in back in 2000, it was made in 1992. It had never been fired. Probably a vault gun. Had a lot of sticky gum residue on the slide, with dirt on it, that looked just like corrosion. Wiped it down with some alcohol, and BAM, a new gun was under there. I was lucky on that one.

I was very fortunate to get my 4006CSP from forum member Grinder, he must of listed it in a moment of weakness

I also have a Fresno Sheriff Dept. marked 4506-1 that if it isn't NIB, it's damned close to it.. I also lucked out finding it in the classifieds. I must of used up all of my karma finding those two as I haven't been as successful ever since.
