Model 645
I have worn out the rear sights to my Model 645. I purchased it in 1987 and have carried it daily since. Does anyone out there know where I can purchase adjustable rear sights or an upper slide assembly with adjustable sights already installed?

If you have the standard rear blade S&W, Brownells or Midway probably have replacements. If you to change to adjustables there is the PSI/LPA that will fit the original dovetail from Brownells. Anything else will require machine work on your slide from someone like Novaks.

Thanks for the information. Now that I am getting older I want to upgrade to an adjustable rear sight. I checked out the internet but could not get the answer I was looking for…this helps me out. Thanks again.

She has been a work horse. All the young kids at work make fun of me carrying an old heavy gun. But with being 6’03”, 290 lbs. And the low recoil I handle it very well. In fact at the range in a quick draw situation at hip level I can place all 8 rounds of the .45 auto in a 12” circle at 15 feet and that is without using the sights! I got five years left at work so I decided to upgrade her... But I have been looking at the M&P .45. (I feel like I am cheating on her)….

IMHO, you can't upgrade from the 645. If you feel you must, I guess you will. I think it would be great for you to retire still carrying your original issue weapon. That way, you both can retire at the same time.

Here is my 745 with the LPA rear sight and a dovetail fiber optic on the front. It required machining off the original front to install the fiber optic but the rear went right in. Someone like Novaks can do this to add 3-dot or night sights and even machine the rear to use the ramped Novak sight if you want.

Sorry been real busy at work. No I have been just looking at the M&P. The upgrade I meant was getting some adjustable sights for my 645. I do plan on retiring with it. Then polish off all those holster wear marks and sit back and enjoy not getting up at 4am every morning.
