Default 4516-1 Request info

Just received my 4516-1. LOVE IT
Fits great in my large hands, and love the weight of
PURE STEEL. No real problems on CC carry since cold most of the time in NW Ohio. Any tips, info on holster recommendations, upgrade suggestions much appreciated.

1st, lots of ammo.
Novak sighted 3rd generation autos usually shoot low so a lower front sight. They're available from S&W. Shoot yours 1st of course.
Wolff springs: lighter draw bar spring for a lighter pull and a new recoil spring since you'd already be paying shipping and these are over 10 year old guns. S&W no longer sells the single recoil spring that unaltered 4516-1s use but Wolff does. Aparently S&W wants to alter 4516-1s to 4516-2 configuration so that they will take the 4516-2 double recoil spring set up. That might be better but I don't want to risk changing a near perfect reliability record.
And last, but only if it turns you on, a hammer with a spur.

Best Regards,
Gil

You didnt say if your a south paw or righty. in either case, check out Tandy leather for a holster. I recently bought one from them and since im a southpaw, I had to "copy" it to lefty. Not a big deal since I have the leather.

Wrap your gun in plastic wrap, wet the leather and form it to your gun. When dry, die, seal and sew it all together. Everything came in the kit. Badda big, you have a form fitted holster.

Heres a link to the holster im talking about. Is comes plain, you have to tool it if you want. I didnt.

Tandy Leather Factory - Bullseye Minimal Holster Kit

Like I said, I had the leather since i bought a shoulder a while back and made my own holsters. While this doesnt really work for IWB holsters as its really thick, it does work great for OWB holsters. all but the one above have metal spring clips to secure it to the belt. This is good if you have to run into a place that isnt gun friendly.

I purchased a JIT slide holster from Don Hume for my 4516-1. Great holster at a great price.
