I had the good fortune to run across a fine specimen(LNIB) of the 6906 from a forum member some days ago and although I haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet(leaves took precedence) I'm sure it will shoot as good as it looks.

I thought it would probably be about the size of my 457 but, it's even smaller and although it's a double stack grip, it still doesn't feel big at all. I think I'm going to like it! Another fine example of S&W 3rd Gen technology.

The 6906 is a good looking pistol, I think it is under rated. To me its a 3913 on steroids. I only wish someone would make a decent set of grips for them. The only thing I have found is the Hogue wraparound with finger groove which make it almost too bulky.

I actually like the factory grips. I have them on all my 3rd Gen pistols. I did opt for the curved ones on the 4506 as I didn't like the straight grips.

One thing I'm not too wild about is the lip sticking out on the magazine. I've read somewhere on the forum about some had replaced theirs with the 5906 magazine and a spacer from S&W...+2 I think it was called.

Default 3rd Gens are the stuff!

After selling my 6904 to a good friend several years back, I bought a NIB 6904 earlier this year and a great 6906 (from a Forum member) a couple months ago. Love these guns! Still would like to find a 3913, but did purchase a LNIB 3906 two weeks ago (it's a rock, but what a beauty). I just sold my new M&P 40C to make more room. I'm not even sure the SIG229 is safe anymore. I think the 3rd Gens are seriously underrated. Everyone was swept away by the Glock craze (I had one, too), and just moved along. Some of us remember what great pistols these third gens are. For the money, they're a bargain!
