Source for factory 4516-1 springs?
Anybody have a source for factory S&W 4516-1 recoil springs? I need a replacement for mine and I ordered the 4516-1 spring from Numrich Arms ( www.e-gunparts.com) and it's too long....looks more like a 4566 spring. I then ordered the factory weight version from Wolff ( Wolff Gunsprings - Firearm Springs for Semi-Auto Pistols, Revolvers, Rifles, & Shotguns) and it's too short...so short in fact the pistol has a hard time going into battery.
Anybody have a source for an original spring, or want to sell one?

Well S&W would be my first choice, then Brownells or Midway. Does yours use the single or the dual spring setup?

It would seem obvious that for factory parts the first place to look would be the factory. Call S&W, 800-331-0852. When guns have internal variations during production which are differentiated by serial number they are often the only ones who can make this distinction in selecting the correct part.
You have discovered why Numrich, Gun Parts, E-Gun Parts (all same company) are the last choice for ordering gun parts. My personal experience with them is they only have about a 50% chance of sending the right part!!!
The factory, any of them, then Brownell's, Jack First, anyone else, and Numrich in that order would be my choice of source of any parts.

You can get the right one for the 4516-1 from S&W.
Recoil Spring-#201330000
1-800-331-0852
The 4516 has two (inside/outside) springs if I'm not mistaken. Yours has one.

Smith and Wesson no longer sells recoil springs for the 4516-1. That's the issue. So, I need an alternate place to get one.

I didn't know you had checked S&W. It's still indicated in their catalog's parts list so I figured it was available.

He did. Apparently they sent him the wrong spring.

You don't happen to remember the part number do you? I checked Midway USA and I thought all they had was the inner and outer springs for a 4516-2. Did you just use the outer 4516-2 spring?

I got the correct spring from Wolff after a call to S&W. S&W advised that they no longer offer the 4516-1 recoil spring. I've had no problem with the Wolff spring. Maybe they shipped you the wrong one.

I looked for the no. but I could not find it. I no longer have the springs I ordered. Mine had the single spring. I guess this was too long back. Sorry
