Default New hammer spring in 6946.

I have had my PD trade in 6946 for a couple of months now. The trigger was very heavy and it shot pretty low. I understand the 6946 should come from the factory with a 17 lb. hammer spring. I replaced it with an 18 lb. Wolff spring and the trigger felt lighter and it shot somewhat better. I ordered a 17 lb. Wolff spring and now the trigger is way better. It now shoots to POA and the groups improved big time.

Would a PD install a heavier than stock hammer spring for liability reasons? This spring change has made all the difference in the world. I love this pistol now.

PD's will do all kinds of things in the name of liability defense. I have picked up a number of police-trade-in DAO Smiths over the years, some with light and smooth triggers some with very heavy triggers. I tend to replace most of the springs right out of the box.
