Default quick question about a SW40VE or is it a SW9VE

well a good friend of mine is trying to sell a 9mm SW40VE. yeah im a noobie to guns but after doing a little search i figured something is not right.

it says 9mm on the barrel and he says he shoots 9mm in the gun. but the side of the slide says SW40VE. i was with him when he bought it a few years ago. he got it from a truckload sale at a dealer. is it possible that maybe S&W messed up on the gun, has anyone heard of this. he did say he compaired guns to a friend who had the 40, im guessing they switched slides on accedent.

If the barrel says 9mm and the slide says 40 then something is terribly wrong and it should never be loaded or fired for any reason.

You are very observant. I would pass that one up too. I bought a Sigma a few years ago, I gave it away, for free, to a friend who needed a range gun. The trigger was too loooooong and it was not reliable.

Default Slides swapped

It's a good chance that some one switched parts around, They will fit, sort of. If the gun is a 9mm the magazine should say 9mm. A .40 cal magazine won't fit. The slide are basically the same but the breech face and extractor are slightly different.
