Smile S&W CS9? Found One!!! Pic added.

I have been thinking about buying a S&W CS9. I have seen reviews other places that say they are junk and others that praise them.

Anyone here owned one or used one?

What is your opinion of the little 9mm?

I went to my local black gun store today and what was in the display case but a blued CS9. Two magazines, no box or papers, nice condition for $350.00. Since I know the owner well, he said "How about $325.00 and Merry Christmas".

I brought it home, cleaned it up, and it is ready to go to the range.

Thanks for the comments.

Pic's to follow.

Pic is after installing Big Dog grips.

Total junk (if using them for skeet shooting). Otherwise they are pretty awesome. All these people seems to like them.

Thanks for the link.

I tried a search for S&W CS9, CS9, Smith CS9, etc. and every time it came back no results, try again.

Had that happen to me before here as well. I have much better luck running a tag search in just the semi-auto forum.

I own and have shot my CS9 quite a bit. Mine has been flawless as far as function, no jams etc.
My only real issue is the sights. Mine shoots low, about 6" at 50'. Also, I would like to put night sights on it, but the only ones made are the expensive Trijicons.
I do carry it a lot, it is about as light and small all metal gun as you can get.
Also, there are hardly any aftermarket grips available, (Big Dog only I believe)

I love my CS9. If you can love guns. I have two of them as well as a CS45. I've got Big Dog grips on all three.

Great little guns. I have CS9, 40 and 45. Wouldn't think of parting with any of them. Totally reliable, comfortable to shoot and carry, seem to like any and all ammo. Can't imagine you'd be sorry if you make a purchase but can promise you you'd readily find a buyer if for some reason you wanted to sell. Good luck.

Great gun if you can find one.......whats not to love? Mine is totally reliable, very accurate, has a lifetime warranty, is very slender and compact long before people thought they wanted that. I do however carry my 3913 more often than CS9 simply due to fit in my hand.
You will NOT regret getting one...if so, many on this forum will be more than happy to help you find a new home for it!!

I wouldn't part with mine, great little gun. Slim, reliable, accurate.
I used it for the shooting test when I renewed my carry permit last year, and outshot the other 5 guys in the class.

Retired2006- Have you tried shooting 147 gr. ammo out of your CS9? It raised my POI in my CS9 and 6906.

Seems like a good amount of the negatives that I have heard about the CS9 (which are few and far in between to begin with) are from a number of years ago before folks began to appreciate these guns. Some only saw them as different from other 3rd gen pistols.

Mine has been outstanding over the past two or three years.

True story. My next door neighbor recently started shooting. He became a fan of the 3rd Gen Smiths (shooting mine) and when it came time for him to consider a carry gun I located a CS9 for him in a local shop. It was in excellent condition for $350. When we got his gun home I compared it to mine purchased two or three years ago. Same letter prefix. The numbers were ten apart. Both shoot like champs.

Love my CS9. Reliable, points well & accurate. Unlike most here, I like the stock grips.

Oklahoma Shooters??? Only two things come out of Oklahoma . . .

The CS9s are good guns for their intended purpose--concealed carry. Reliable and accurate. What more could you want? But, if you're having doubts, simply don't get one. The demand for these little guns far exceed their supply. To each his own! By the way, I have a couple of CS9s and find they are not only good carry pieces, but also quite respectable out on the range!

The CS9 is one of the best 9mm out there. There are 2 problems with it.First are the Hogue rubber grips that print out badly and drag in pocket carry. The cure is to buy Big Dog's custom delrin grips. The Novak sights cause the gun to shoot low to point of aim.Put some Trijicon Night Sights on and the CS9 will be point of aim.I was lucky to get it when it was just discontinued NIB for 590 dollars.Trust me you can't go wrong with this gun.....Mike

i have a very early cs9 that i bought brand new. it has been my daily carry gun from day 1. i never had a problem with the gun.it shoots perfect every time. i have nothing bad to say about the gun.. i have run all different kinds of ammo thru it and it fired it all from hot high end to hot home loads to the cheapest stuff i can find. last year i bought a G33(subcompact 357sig) to replace my cs9 i was going to sell the cs9 then decided to keep it. here we are a year later and i am looking to sell my glock. my cs9 keeps finding its way into my holster every morning...

Thumbs up Love my CS9

Carried a Model 60 38 sp since 1975 whwen I turned 21. Upgraded to to the Model 60 357 after a while and still have it. But my wife commandeered it when I got Goncalo Alves combat grips put on. So I started carrying a used CS9.

Great gun, with Speer Gold dot 124 gr I get six inch groups at 25 yards and I am no marksman. I carry it all the time and everywhere in a pocket holster. Easy to shoot, clean and carry.

Default CS9 Owner

I discovered the CS9 several months ago and traded for one. It is very comfortable to shoot, it is very accurate, it is very reliable. Just a shame that Smith no longer makes them.

Once again, I will say that it's absolutely crazy that S&W is t making the CS in Scandium in 9, 40, and .45.

Same with the 3913, 4014, and Shortys. Make them in Scandium and we would have the ultimate new CCW guns, and one of the few new lines in metal with DA/SA, decockers and hammers.

An old post.. but since it's been resurrected I have a CS9 & 45. I had a CS9 in SS but sold it in favor of the dark color. I cannot say I like it better than my 3913 or 4513TSW but I can say I like them enough that they are in my carry rotation. I just sold a set of BD grips for the 9. I bought them but decided I liked the fatter Hogues better.

I'll bring this back to the top because I just bought one yesterday.

I was actually looking for something to replace the other half's 439 because I personally think that it is too big for her hands. I'm really not much on the plastic guns (I do possess a .40 Shield).

Anyway, while plastic with the plastic guns, I happen to see it laying the gun case. When I got my hands on it, out came the check book. It was $450 with box, paperwork and 3 mags.

These at Summit Gun Broker look like a nice package. Not a bargain price but with a holster, 2 mags and night sighs not that bad at $575.
Firearms, Guns, Rifles. Grain Valley, Missouri.

I have dealt with Summit before and they are a good company. Main page says they're on vacation 'till tomorrow, 7/15/13.

Got to bring it home today and clean it all up. It actually is not that much different dimensionally than my Shield. As a matter of fact, the Shield may go away with this filling that void.

Ok, now the big question. I am looking for an IWB holster...are their any specifically made for the CS9 or are the ones for the 3913 the ones that are used for it?

Hmm...maybe a CS40 in the future?

I have CS 9 and 3913 NL and CS 45
CS 45 is my home defense gun and I alternated CC between CS 9 and 3913 NL The 2 9s cycle exactly the same but for some reason the CS 9 has alot less recoil also have a gen 2.5 glock 26 that I carried very little but it seems to be finding its way in my ecc Its is more compact then the others and weight seems to be a loth better Also the remora non slip is my holster of choice either in pocket or 4 oclock

As far as holsters go, I carry my CS9 in a DeSantis 111-E1 Pocket-Tuk [sic]. It's relatively short and the barrel doesn't extend from the open bottom. The holster has a removable clip, so it can be worn IWB (my choice) or in the pocket.

Default CS9

I own a stainless cs9 with no saftey from they factory. It shoots in double action only. I'd like to have both single and double action. Could someone confirm if the cs9 with the saftey feature will shoot single action?

Thanks

Yes, if they have a safety/decocker on the slide they can be shot DA/SA.

I had this one. Faultless, with every good quality you have come to expect from Third Generation pistols. The only problem was it was too small for my hands, and I just couldn't abide the Hogue grips that came with it. Even after the addition of these grips I found the 908/3913 frame was much better suited for my mitts.

I would buy one like it in a heartbeat even though I have a blued one. Happy with my original. It goes with me everywhere.

I recently traded my way into one of these and it is like new. The only wish Bad Dog was still making grips. Or someone else could pave the way with a DIY post.

You say "I had this one." Is it gone? That with Hogue grips would be my new CCW. I have a blued version, but would like to find SS CS9 or CS40!
