Does anyone know how heavy the pull is on a 6946 trigger? I've been looking at one via internet so I can't examine it. I have fire plenty of Smith DA/SA autos but no DA only. Is the pull about the same or lighter? Thanks.
I would say it's between the DA and SA pulls of the equivalent TDA model but that may just be me. DAO guns can also vary a bit in how smooth and heavy/light they feel.
The best DAO trigger that I ever experienced was on a 6946.
The worst DAO trigger that I ever experienced was on another 6946 that I quickly sold.
Moral: Each and every gun is a law unto itself. Only evaluate the one that you have in your hand. Comparison to others of the same model may be misleading and disappointing.
I had a 5946 that I had to get rid of after one range session. The trigger pull stacked up too much in a short amount of travel.I traded for a 6906 that felt just great.
I own or have owned 5945, 5946, 6946, 5943, 3954 and a 3953. All had comparable triggers; reasonably short, smooth as glass, full reset and heavy enough to allow for good accuracy but still be safe. The 5943 has a slightly heavier trigger than the other guns, the 6946 has the lightest. I think the pre-cock S&W DAO trigger was and is one of the best of its kind ever produced.
