Default S&W Model 411 (40 cal)

Does anyone know anything about a model 411. I have a guy wanting to trade me his model 411 for a gun I have for sale. I don't know anything about that model. Anything you can suggest about the model 411, would be helpful.

The 411, as well as the 915 (9mm), was one of the of the early value line pistols based off of the 3rd gen semi-autos. The big differences on the early value line pistols was that they shipped with 1 magazine, instead of two, only had a right handed safety, and had fixed sights. The early value line pistols have the advantage of not having the wierd plastic sight that the later 410 and 910 had. You really can't go wrong with the 411, as long as the trade is a pistol you are willing to part with, I would do the trade.

I will add they are reliable, accurate and the feel good in the hand. The 411/915 is a value line gun but still has LOTS to offer.

I have one I received as a Christmas gift several years ago. I like its compact size but the recoil is a bit snappy. Never a jam or issue during my use.

Default Excellant gun

I added night sights to mine. My favorite 4" 40. In good shape, it is about a $350 to $400 gun. Great value.
PS About forgot, it is an alloy frame, so very light weight. Basically a value version of the 4003.

Default Special Two-Tone 411

I've got a 411 marked "Special", it's Two-Tone and it's a great firearm.
I chose it over a 410, it looked like it it was built better.
Regards,
BM1

Default Great gun

Hi,

I bought my 411 new way back when S&W introduced the value line. As others have said, it was built to a price point. With that said, I have not had any issues with this weapon and have shot it at least twice a month since I bought it. Despite the amount of use (I've lost count of the rounds) the weapon looks the same as it did when I brought it home. The weapon does feel pretty snappy with factory loads, but is more accurate than I I have seen excellent condition 410s and 411s sell for about $400 in Northern California.

Value in relation to the gun you are selling is relative to how much you are asking and how badly you want the 411. Good luck!

Night sights from prior to 2005 would be significantly dimmer than new by this time. If they were made by Trijicon, they can be re-lamped.

Concerning your trigger - are you saying nothing happens when you pull the trigger with a magazine inserted?

That is correct it wont let the slide come back at all. The only time the slide can be pulled back is with the magazine out of it. when the mag is in it it acts like if it is jammed in place. oh and there is no movement in the trigger at all it just swings back to front and visa versa

Is the magazine factory or aftermarket?

Does the pistol field strip normally?

Yes it is original as far as I remember and Looked at the mag and it has the S&W logo on it now the field stripping { have yet to take it apart but I feel that it is missing something with the trigger do you think if I buy a Trigger assembly it will fix that I mean I don't know what to do and I want to fix it before it just sits there you know.

OK - Are you saying the trigger does not spring back to the forward position after being pulled to the rear? It just moves freely?

If you were the original owner of the pistol (you bought it new), it is still technically under warranty from S&W. If that's the case, you should call them and request a return label for a warranty repair.

Another option is to call Frank Smith. He will take care of it - LSG, Mfg|Gun Parts|Warranty|Gunsmithing

It is definitely time for a gunsmith.

And don't give your brother any more guns - he obviously can't be trusted with them.

Good luck. It really takes a concentrated effort to destroy a S&W 3rd generation pistol but your brother apparently has succeeded.
