Default Help me to decide ( Model 52-2)

I need help to compare my model 52-2 ( ealry 70's) to a 952 series pistols.

I am thinking of trading off my 52-2 and getting an accurate pistol in 9mm.

I have never shot a 952.

How does it shoot with 147 JHP ammo ?

How accurate is it compare to 952-2?

Any thoughts? THANK YOU !

Check out this thread:

952?

Also I have both. The 952 is a really nice gun and in my opinion is capable of being as accurate as a 52-2. However, out of the box the trigger pull will be around 3.5 to 4.5 lb (but crisp) not 2.5 lb like you are used to with the 52. Also unless you hand load light 9mm LSWC loads you will find that the recoil of a 9mm makes the gun harder to shoot accurately than a 52-2 shooting 148 grain HBWCs. I tried some 115 grain LSWCs from Penn bullets over a light load of PP and Win 231 and I could shoot it just as well as my 52. BTW unless you use light loads it wouldn't be wise IMHO to adjust the 952 trigger pull below about 3 to 3.5 lb.

Hope this helps.

If I get a 952 I will only shoot Fedetal HST 147 JHP's in it. I will not reload for it.

How does a 952 handle 147 JHP's?

Mine likes 147 grain Hornady XTPs going at about 1000 fps. But it likes 115 and 124 grain XTPs even better. However, like I said in my previous post the recoil will be much stiffer with this load than any reasonable 38spl HBWC load in a 52.

fighter62. Don't trade your 52-2 for a 952. They don't make 52s anymore. A 952 will never have the character of one. I am not saying don't get a 952 they are a very fine gun but what I am saying I am sure you will eventually regret getting rid of your 52.

Default Model 52-2 vs 952.

I agree. The 52's are no longer made, and the trigger is the sweetest I've ever felt on a pistol. The recoil is incredibly light.
I load HBWC's pushed by 2.9 grains of W-231.
I would also like to own a 952,just to have a super accurate 9mm. However,I'd never get rid of my 52-2.
