Default Kudos to S&W

Well, another gun forum had a question asked in a thread. The website is not brand dedicated but rather to a 1911.

The answers confirmed what I have been saying since I bought a new S&W 1911 early this year.

The question centered around which would be best, a S&W 1911 or a SA Loaded. So far 80% of those answering the question has nothing but praise for the S&W. All gives the S&W credit for better accuracy, fit, feel and finish.

Anyone not having shot one of the late model S&W 1911 guns and enjoying the 1911 style should try it. I now have ran over 5000 rounds through one of my new ones and about 800 through the other. Not a problem at all.

It appears S&W has got it together with their new 1911.

Good to see a positive post. To often folks only post when they have a problem.

Thank you for posting.

My buddy has a nice S&W 1911 & can practically drive nails with it. The thing is really accurate & really hits where it's aimed.

I think a Commander sized pistol is next for me, sometime in 2011.

My point exactly. The S&W production guns are far more accurate than most of us here. I am really impressed and that is something since I own many brands and customs yet still feel the new S&W to be better than any of those I own or have shot.

But how often does one hear the praises of the S&W? Many people suggest looking at the Springfield or other gun including semi custom guns when they have not handled or shot a S&W 1911. I recently read a very honest suggestion from a knowlegable person. They suggested people should consider trying a Springfield 1911. That is reasonable to suggest, but then they admit to never seeing one, never shooting one and never talking to anyone that has seen, shot or held one. Yet we have people on many gun forums praising the S&W 1911 (newer models) for their accuracy, handling, functional stability and you never see anyone suggesting a S&W.

Then we have to mention that while S&W made some errors in the past, they are now an American company, housed in the US and employing US workers. It is also admitted that S&W makes the slides for some other gun makers.

If we cannot have faith in US companies, then there is not much hope for the US citizens.

I would love to have a S&W 1911... Shot a few but have yet to purchase one. I am not going to beat up on springfield too much but I have 3. TRP,(bad over priced) shot it once so far no malfunctions but less than 50 rounds down the tube. accuracy is OK. Springfield defender limited edition,(50 rounds and its a jam o matic). Compact V10 will go thru 50 to 100 rounds then it too is a jam o matic. I should not have to tune on these things to get them to work...All of the S&W 1911 I have fired have all been excellent with all types of ammo. I will own a couple in the very near future a 9mm and a 45acp.
