Default Grip Safety Question

I recently purchased a new SW1911DK and have put about 150 rounds through it. It performed flawlessly from the first shot.
My problem happens during reassembly after cleaning.
The L-shaped lever actuating the firing pin block protrudes slightly above the frame and cannot be forcefully pressed level. It's a battle to get the slide over the protruding lever. Has anyhone else had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it? I could grind about 1/64 inch off the lever, but am hesitant to do that in case it would cause a problem with enabling the firing pin.
