Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 41
A while back someone on this forum had purchased a Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 41 22LR and was not happy with it. Has anyone else bought one? If so can you tell me any more about it? They are being offered by Davidson's. Thanks for any and all help.

I've had a Performance Center Model 41 on order from Davidson's for about a month now -- my retailer said Davidson's told them they ordered 100 of them in February, so I hope to have it soon. I'm looking forward to see how it compares to my 41 that I bought 20 years ago regarding appearance, functioning and accuracy. Will let you know as soon as I'm able. Also, can anyone describe which optical sight they prefer for a Model 41? Thanks.

I would buy an Aimpoint sight. I've had 4 Ultradots, only 2 left now. Ultradot's have parallax issues, where Aimpoints do not. If you don't intend on shooting past 25 yards then I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd been waiting for the Performance Center Model 41 I ordered from Davidson's (thru Cabela's) for a little over a month, so I phoned Cabela's for a status report about it. Unfortunately, there is some sort of conflict between Cabela's and the retail part of Davidson's -- Gallery of Guns. The explanation I was given, was that Gallery of Guns and Cabela's are direct competitors and there have been issues between them in the past. Cabela's said they won't order items from Gallery of Guns at this time, and if I wanted to get that gun, I would need to arrange it thru an FFL dealer. I told them that's what I thought was doing when I ordered it thru Cabela's. They appolgized, and of course said my deposit will be refunded. Not that big a deal, but a little disappointing. Just wanted to give anyone else a heads up if they plan on ordering a gun of this type, since Davidson's is the exclusive distributor for it. Looks like I'll be giving Clark's a call for a barrel soon as I don't feel like waiting for the Performance Center gun again. It'll be a cheaper option since my old Model 41 is still in good shape, and I'm guessing the Clark's barrel should be more accurate than the one on the Performance Center gun. By the way, does anyone know if the Clark's barrels require any fitting, or are they drop in units? Thanks.

I will be at Cabelas in Sidney NE tomorrow and since that is main headquarters, they should have one on display. I will check it out and comment if you are interested. Maybe a pic if that is allowed...

Thanks for looking while you were at Cabela's. Davidson's / Gallery of Guns.com lists the Performance Center Model 41 as item # 178031 (Cabela's couldn't locate it either until I gave that info). Since Davidson's is the only distributor, it's a bit tough to find.
I appreciate all the input concerning scopes and barrels. If someone actually has one of the P.C. Model 41's, please give us a review. Thanks.

I bought the threaded clark barrel for my 70's vintage 41 and it fit great 1st time and runs great suppressed. I have an aimpoint micro (?) on it and love it.
