Exclamation Enhanced 1911's

Just got off the phone with Smith & Wesson, asking about their new "enhanced" 1911's; why they are featured on Bud's Gun Shop web site but not their own. I was told that the new 1911's will be revealed at the up coming SHOT Show, and they are shown/detailed in Smith's printed catalog that you can request now. Their web site will be updated soon.

So what has been enhanced? Inquiring minds want to know.

This is what Jeff at Smith tells me:

1 - ambithumb safey
2 - larger pro ctr extractor
3 - precision fit trigger
4 - checkered grip front strap and slide rear
5 - recessed and chamfered barrel
6 - upgraded grips
7 - night sights (some)
8 - fish scale slide serrations

Do you know if these have a FPS or if they are doing the whole titanium firing pin thing with them?

I haven't had the time to inquire into them, yet. Thanks.

While I don't have anything against the firing pin safety used in the SW1911 (and I own a SW1911SC), if they offered a TFP model in the new Enhanced series it would just about round out anything I'd have wanted in the way of a personalized SW1911. Nice.

Now, I've got to decide if I want a range enjoyment PC 1911 (or 945), or a SW1911 Enhanced for more of a "working" gun ... (to complement the M&P 45c I'm going to order).

S&W tells me they will update their web site right after the SHOT Show this month.
