Model 22a-1 cracked
When I field stripped my 22A-1 to clean it, I noticed a part was cracked. It the grey metal part which the recoil spring spacer sits up against.
Anyone see this before? I certainly hope its covered by warranty.

I can't see any possible way that can be deemed Your Fault. Contact S&W online, maybe they'll even send you a pre-paid mailing label for your gun. Sure looks like that is part of the frame... I think you're gonna be getting a Brand New Gun!

Yes. I even replaced it not too long ago. Is that called the recoil spring spacer?

A friend of mine bought one of these used quite awhile ago. It was in pristine shape when he bought it. After awhile, he had part of the slide crack and the finish was also coming off. Oh, and one of the grip screw fell off at some point as well.
He called Smith and then sent it back. They sent it back with a new slide, new grips and a great tune up. The price was only how much it cost him to send it for the repair in the first place! Smith paid for what turned out to be basically a new gun!

I have called them and emailed them, but I haven't been able to reach anyone at Smith & Wesson.
Is there any secret to getting through to them?

Just got through to them on the phone. The key is you have to enter the extension to get through to support.
Tel: 1-800-331-0852 , ext. 2905
Leaving a voicemail or email didn't seem to work.
Anyway, they said just send it back to them. I have never shipped a gun before. They said use Fedex or UPS.
Thanks for everyones help. I'll post back what happens next.

UPS quote was $79 to have it shipped. At this point, I am not sure it's worth it.

Long overdue update....
Called Smith and Wesson again. They covered the shipping charge. Since 22a is discontinued, I have a credit towards any new S&W gun. 617 revolver coming my way.

Yep! It was buried in some unlabeled box for 5 years. I was convinced I had disposed of it. Not long ago, I was digging around and found it. Called S&W and got everything arranged quickly.
I am puzzled why they didn't inform me about free shipping the first time.

I'm surprised they didn't send you a shipping label. Call back and tell them the problem. I that doesn't work send an E-Mail. You will get better results and can document your concerns.
I sent 4 E-Mails when I had my last problem, then someone from the corporate office got involved and took good care of me.
