Default Difference between a 39 and 39-2

What are the differences between a Model 39 and a 39-2. The dash (-) revisions usually indicate a change or improvement, what specifically is it relative to this model line of semi-autos? Thanks.

The first 39 had a short safety, short tang and longer extractor to name a few differences.

The biggest difference is the extractor, with the no dash having the long extractor and the -2 having the small extractor, pretty much similar to all of the 3rd gens in appearance. They also change the barrel twist rate around the A200000 SN range to a lighter twist rate. Around the same SN range they changed the barrel bushing over to non-fully enclosed guide rod. Along with this the early -2 models had a hole in the hammer that disappeared around A100000.

Both the no dash and -2 versions of the Model 39 are great pistols. They are some of my favorites to shoot and look great doing it too.

I think they also changed the feedramp as my first Model 39 would not feed hollowpoint (except for those made by Norma) but I could be wrong about this as I have been wrong once before.

You know I forgot to mention that change. The 39 no dash has a hump in the middle of the feedramp. The 39-2 got rid of that hump. I always forget about that because my 39-2's get a lot more use than my no dash does and I rarely shoot 9mm hollow points. This is, however, an important consideration if you plan on carrying it.

Was there any difference in parts on the hammer, sear, sear release lever or other parts in this area?
