Summit had Police trades for like $295 not that long ago. To me $475 is way high, even in good shape.

If it is like new, not a police trade in, has a round trigger guard, the mags are factory, it comes with the original box and manual, etc. then $475 would be a much more realistic price. Even then I would want him to come down a little. Otherwise it is too high in my opinion.

Many thanks to those of you who replied!!

Did more research last night and bought 2011 ed. of Standard Catalog of Firearms at Books A Milion this a.m. (boy did they look at me weird at 9am...peering past their piercings...buying a...gasp...gun book!).

Gun was G to VG which shows as being in $325-350 range...BUT it had a dimple on grip which means it was a recalled model (per FirearmsID.com "Reacalls and Safety Warnings"); therefore, the gun became worthless to me.

Wish I had a picture of my buddy's face when I showed him this info! He felt he had been hoo-doo'ed himself...he's a good guy and a friend, so there was no malice intended on his part (this I want to believe...).

Again, thanks and what a great welcome!!!

The 5904s were recalled because of the grip. Nothing else was wrong with the gun. The replacement grip has the dimple. The grips without the dimple were subject to cracking and coming apart which renders the gun inoperable. If it didn't have the dimple then you'd need to replace the grips.
Nothing at all wrong with the 5904 (particularly those with the dimple). It was our issued duty gun for several years. Great shooters. However $475 sounds at least $100-$150 too high for one rated G to VG.

There were 5904 trade in guns in the latest southernohiogun flyer for low $300's. $475 seems extremelly high for almost any 3rd generation smith. I know times are not like they used to be, but the only thing I have seen lately in that range are .45 guns..4506, 4576, etc.

I stand corrected on the "dimple". Thanks...I told seller.
I'm still glad I didn't get the gun, though. Besides the high price, it didn't have the "feel" I always look for. (can one look for a feel? in certain circumstances I'd say "yes") ha
