Default The worlds smallest 9mm??

While at a local store viewing some older handguns, my eyes crossed over what at first thought was a trigger group for the 10-22...I asked the manager of the store what it is...he said its the worlds smallest 9mm handgun??? He then opened up the case and handed me this tiny 9. It wasnt much different in size then a 10-22 trigger group. Single shot, break action and to cock one pulls back two slides on the side of the reciever. I asked if someone made it in their basement as it appears that way. both the barrel which was square in shape and the reciever were machined. It appeard to be never fired and is being sold with some paperwork-manual that kind of stuff...It was called a Liberator, has anyone ever seen this before??

I'm pretty sure the US manufactured a pistol called the Liberator back in WWII to be dropped behind enemy lines to resistance forces in France. I believe it was also single shot in .45ACP(?).

The Stinger Liberator 9mm Parabellum is really rather large and blocky for a single shot derringer style pistol. I would personally want a traditional styled two shot that is just a frog hair bigger than the single shot.

Anything is possible, I would not give you $50 bucks for it.

The original Liberator was a 45 ACP from the WWII era. Those are valued highly by collectors and very expensive. I've heard of a similar design in 9 MM from the Viet Nam era but never seen one. It seems they were made up as cheaply as possible with the intent of distributing them to the general populations who would then use the gun to shoot an enemy soldier and take his better weapons. Very few, if any, were actually used as intended.

Odd looking things. They almost look like staple guns, except with more recoil.

The later 9mm version of the Liberator was sometimes called the "deer gun".
